Cussin Tie

AQHA: 3905572    Foal Date: 4/12/99    15 hands

We bought "Eddy" in 2006 when we bought our ranch in Salado.   We picked him for his personality and versatility as a nice pleasure riding horse.  He was trained by his previous owner as a calf roper, but I'm not sure he has the energy for this - though a more experienced rider could really put him through his paces.   He sometimes goes several weeks between rides (which is why we are selling him), but he knows his job and never picks up any bad habits.   He is truly a pleasure to ride, and is the mount of choice whenever we have young or inexperienced riders out to the ranch for a visit.   I've never seen a horse before that has Eddy's knack for giving an experienced rider a fun ride, but is gentle enough for a novice, or young child.   He has been ridden with western tack.

Eddy has always been an easy keeper.  He lives in the pasture most of the time with his buddy Cody (below).   He gets a scoop of SafeChoice daily, and other than that is just content to graze (free choice hay in the winter).   He is not currently shod (since we don't ride him often), but is regularly trimmed by the farrier.   He hauls loose in our stock trailer for short rides, and we have hauled him in a slant load on longer trips.  I would rate his temperment as a "3" (1-10).

Eddy is a great choice if you are looking for a versatile, easy to keep pleasure riding horse.

Ken's Bar

APHA: 351361    Foal Date: 4/16/96    15.2 hands

We bought "Cody" in 2006 at the same time we bought "Eddy" above.   Cody is my daughter's horse.  She wanted a nice moving horse with a sweet personality, but who wanted a rider that would be in charge - and that's just what Cody is.  He is probably not well suited for an inexperienced rider, but is a great choice for someone who has been riding for a couple of years. It's just that he has a fast pace and likes to "go" - a good intermediate rider will done fine with him, but he might be a bit much for a beginner.  He has never bolted on us, he just enjoys a good pace.  Cody was trained by his previous owner as a calf roper, but I think he is better suited as a pleasure horse - has has beautiful movement, to complement his beautiful paint coloring.  He is lots of fun to ride, maneuvers well, and is very flexible.  Cody sometimes goes for weeks between rides (which is why we are selling him), but he knows his job and never picks up any bad habits.    He has been ridden with western tack.

Eddy is a great choice if you are an intermediate or better rider, looking for a sweet riding companion.
